Land of the Lost 90s style...

This weekend the first official stinker of the 2009 movie season hit theaters with the release of Will Ferrel's version of Land of the Los t. With a budget of over 100 million dollars the film opened nationwide to a meager 17 million dollar take at the box office. I, like many other fans of the previous Land of the Lost shows did not go see it for the simple reason that it's just not the Land of the Lost I grew up with. I was not even alive when the original show aired, but when the 90s version premiered back in 1991, I tuned in and soon became hooked. Many fans of the original have bashed this version to no end, but I was only around 11 years old when it aired and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Happy Three Kings Day...

Today, people all over the world celebrate the arrival of the three wise men at Bethlehem to worship baby Jesus. This is the last major event of the Christmas season. Unfortunately, not a lot of people in the U.S. outside of the Latin communities are very familiar with this celebration of the epiphany. Three Kings Day, celebrates the Biblical story of the three kings, Gaspar, Melchior and Balthazar, who followed a star that led them to Bethlehem, where they brought baby Jesus gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. The journey is believed to have taken 12 days, beginning on Dec. 25 and ending with their arrival on Jan. 6. O n the eve of Three Kings Day, children leave a shoebox filled with grass, sometimes accompanied by a glass of water or freshly polished shoes, under their bed or by the door to help the three kings and their camels along on their journey. BBC Robin Hood toys!!!

One of my favorite shows in recent years was the BBC version of Robin Hood. I'll admit it got off to a rough start but halfway through the first season the show started to hit on all cylinders. The stories were a lot of fun and they were able to put a new spin on the classic myth. I just found out that at some point around the show's second season an European toy company known as Vivid Imaginations put out a line of toys based on the show. Unfortunately the line was never distributed at retail in the U.S. It took some time but I was able to create a list of all the items released as part of this toy line. Lets take a look at everything. ACTION FIGURES The heart and soul of the toy line, as is usually the case, was the action figure assortment based on some of the show's main characters.
